For Individuals & Families

Steady Presence, Sacred Passage

Serious illness, caregiving, grief and end-of-life experiences often bring questions that have no easy answers.

You may be navigating difficult medical decisions, caring for someone you love, preparing for an uncertain future, grieving a loss, or simply trying to make sense of what comes next.

Presence & Passage provides end-of-life doula services, grief support and facilitated conversations that help individuals and families move through these experiences with greater clarity, connection and confidence.

Together, we create space for both practical planning and the emotional realities that accompany life's most profound transitions.

Services may include:

  • End-of-life doula support
  • Grief coaching and integration sessions
  • Family conversation facilitation
  • Legacy and life review projects
  • Advance care planning support
  • Caregiver guidance and resource navigation
  • Meaning-making and reflection sessions
  • Vigil and dying-space preparation

You May Be Facing

  • A serious or life-limiting diagnosis
  • Caregiving responsibilities and difficult decisions
  • Conversations your family isn't sure how to start
  • Questions about hospice, advance care planning or what to expect
  • Anticipatory grief and uncertainty about the future
  • The desire to preserve stories, memories and family history
  • Grief after the death of someone you love
  • The death of a beloved pet

You do not need to face these experiences alone.

Philosophy

I lost my mother when I was seven years old, and that experience shaped my understanding of loss, grief and the conversations that often go unspoken. For many years, I avoided discussions about death, grief and legacy. Over time, however, I came to believe that these conversations are often most helpful when they happen before a crisis occurs.

My approach is grounded in a simple belief: conversations about serious illness, caregiving, grief and death are most meaningful when they happen intentionally rather than out of urgency.

While none of us can control what happens, we can create more space for clarity, communication and connection along the way.

Presence & Passage exists to help people navigate these experiences with honesty, compassion and practical support. That's why I developed the FACES Approach: Facilitation, Advocacy, Communication, Education, Support.

What is an end-of-life doula?

An end-of-life doula is a nonmedical companion who provides emotional, practical and informational support to individuals and families navigating dying, death and grief.

This support can include:

  • conversation and emotional support
  • non-legal advance planning discussions
  • bedside presence
  • legacy projects
  • family support
  • guidance around what to expect

Many people describe end-of-life doulas as guides, companions and facilitators who help families navigate conversations, decisions and emotions that often fall outside traditional medical care.

An end-of-life doula does not provide medical, legal or mental health services. Instead, doulas work alongside those professionals to support the emotional, relational and practical aspects of serious illness, dying and grief.

*I trained as an end-of-life doula through the International End-of-Life Doula Association (INELDA) and abide by their code of ethics.

Service Offerings

Support can take many forms depending on your needs, circumstances and goals. The offerings below provide several starting points, while remaining flexible to meet each individual's situation.
